Input sought: Data analysis in sport – and lessons business can learn

I’m writing a piece for a UK national newspaper on how professional sports are using data analytics to improve their performance — and what businesses can learn from sports’ experience.

We’re looking for concrete examples of how teams or sportsmen and women have used data analysis and cutting edge data gathering techniques to improve their tactics, game plans, and fitness – and also for best practice business can take from sport, especially around processing large volumes of data and around real-time (or near real-time) analytics.

Please contact me with suggestions for interviewees/sources by 1700 GMT, January 6th, 2015; interviewees need to be available this week.

  • I’m also looking for possible examples for follow-up articles, especially around how technology is helping clubs engage with their fans, and possible IT security angles around sports technology.
