Upcoming commission: FT Connected Business, May 2014

I am writing the following feature for the FT – and am looking to speak to CMOs and CIOs from a range of industries and geographies about the points below. Analyst input would also be welcome.

Expressions of interest by 1600 London time, Friday 9 May – by email (please no calls!)

CMOs and CIOs

Gartner predicted in 2012 that by 2017 the chief marketing officer would be spending more than the CIO on IT, is this really the case?

Are CMOs the right people to be in charge of this budget?

What role should the CIO be playing in helping them and steering companies in their use of marketing technology?

Might the CIO and CMO role merge in the future?

UPDATE: Please note: I have had a lot of submissions, on marketing technologies, or offering CMOs or other execs for interview from IT firms. There are too many for me to reply to you all in person.

This piece is not about specific technologies, still less about products. Also, please keep in mind the FT’s general business (not IT) readership.

With that in mind, this piece is now closed to new submissions of ideas or contacts, unless they are CIOs or CMOs in businesses in retail, financial services, FMCG, travel and transportation, or manufacturing.

thanks for your understanding.
