Upcoming commissions: January 2014

Here’s a brief list of the upcoming commissions I’m working on for January 2014.

As ever, email is the best way to pitch to me and preference will be given to end user business interviews, although usually I’m happy to interview the vendor alongside their customer.

Partnering with technology innovators

This article will look at if financial services are to realise the full potential technology can have on their business in 2014, how they must not only implement technologies from leading providers, but consider the gains that can be made from partnering with technology companies.

– I am looking for independent experts (academics, analysts etc), technologists working in banks and other financial sector firms, and technology providers, both consultants and vendors.

– I am, though, looking for companies offering strategic partnerships to the financial sector. It’s outside the scope of this article to consider point solutions from technology vendors. We will, though, look at outsourcing, technology advisory services, and organisations that can help financial firms to innovate.

Corporate Financier magazine

Cyber Security in Corporate Finance

Understanding, anticipating and managing these cyber risks is crucial for all company directors and advisers; it is not an issue to be dealt with only by IT and technical specialists.

The feature will draw out the key challenges on cyber risk for corporate financiers – why it is such a big risk, i.e. the sheer volume of information companies have to deal with — and what needs to be done.
For interviews preference will be given to either corporate advisory firms (management consultancies, accountants, or specialist security consultants) and to internal risk managers, compliance officers, CFOs or finance directors. This is not an article for IT professionals, so any input from technology vendors will be limited and so pitches need to be at the highest level.

Innovating to optimise
Many IT business decision-makers (CIOs, VPs of IT, CFOs) are caught in what appears to be a Catch-22 situation. The business needs IT to help it cope with rapid change, but IT faces budget and resource constraints. How can IT leaders innovate when they under intense pressure to reduce costs?
The report will be based on a series of interviews with non-vendor executives. In particular I am looking for end-user executives, including CIOs, to be interviewed.
Audience: worldwide
Deadline for submission of leads: 03 01 2014. Deadline for interviews: tbc. It is possible we may be able to submit some additional names for interview after the initial deadline.

Case study requests: HR, predictive analytics

I have openings for two HR case studies (one HR director, one IT director) and a case study on predictive analytics (head of analytics, line of business director, CIO) for different IT publications.
There is no specific deadline but please contact me asap if you have suggestions.
UK audience – UK/Ireland or global companies with UK/IE presence.
