Preparing for broadcast interviews: some tips

More publications are producing video and audio content for their sites. But as a journalist I’m finding that guests and interviewees are not always sure how to prepare.

Usually the best way to prepare is to research the outlet’s previous work, by watching or listening to some earlier productions. If the footage is behind a firewall, ask for samples.

As a start, though, I thought it might be useful to post these interview tips. This is a shorter version of material I use in media training and PR briefings, but hopefully it will help clarify what journalists and producers are looking for.

As ever, any feedback is very welcome: journalism (at) stephenpritchard (dot) com
